Research assistant falls to death while rock climbing in JNU campus

New Delhi, Jan 02 (ANI): A 30-year-old research assistant at the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) in New Delhi fell off while rock climbing. He was declared brought dead at a hospital nearby. The research assistant, Praveen Tiwari, was with a friend whom he had asked to shoot a video as he climbed the rocks and explained its characteristics. During the climb, a rock he held for support, crumbled. Tiwari fell backwards into a ditch and hit his head on a stone, leading to severe injuries. He was declared brought dead by hospital authorities. In the video, Tiwari is seen climbing on a rock face. His friend, shooting the video, even warns him about the danger of falling off. The research assistant was climbing the rocks in the ridge area, popularly known as Parthasarathy Rocks, inside Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. The incident happened on December 30. Praveen Tiwari was a resident of JNU’s Brahmaputra Hostel and had recently joined as research assistant at ICSSR.
