Reservation Bill: Government betrayed poor savarnas, says AAP’s Sanjay Singh

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): After the Parliament on Wednesday approved an amendment to the Constitution to make economically-weaker sections of general category eligible for 10% reservation in education and government jobs. The Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill, 2019 bill was approved by the Rajya Sabha with 165 votes in favour and seven against after a day-long debate, a day after the Lok Sabha passed it with 323 votes against 3 votes. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh said, “Government betrayed poor savarnas.10% reservation given to 95% population with Rs 8 lakh income and 40% reservation under general category given to 5% savarnas above Rs 8 lakh income. In future, they will end Dalits and backwards reservation. We boycotted voting.”
