New Delhi, Jan 09 (ANI): After Lok Sabha passed a Constitution Amendment Bill to grant 10% reservation in education and government jobs to economically-weak individuals belonging to the general category, across religions on Tuesday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in her recent series of tweets said, “January 8, 2019 is a historic day for the Indian Lok Sabha. Today, Lok Sabha passed bill providing 10% quota for economically weak in general category. The Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill, 2019 was introduced in the House on Tuesday. I would like to thank and congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for passing both revolutionary bills in the Lok Sabha. The Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill, 2019 was also passed through which Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and backward classes will be given reservation without any discrimination. People belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi and Christian community (minority sections) who have came from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan and have been tormented badly are now being provided with Indian citizenship through this historic bill.”
