Shivraj Chouhan calls reservation ‘historic decision’ while Abhishek Singhvi says it is ‘election gimmick’

New Delhi/Bhopal (MP), Jan 07 (ANI): Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government on Monday decided to amend the Constitution to provide 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker upper caste in government services and admission in higher education. While reacting to it, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that it is historic moment for the BJP. He said, “This is a historic decision taken by the BJP government. Modi is moving forward with his slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. To give justice to those people, this decision has been taken. The economically weaker upper caste people will get the benefit of this”. Meanwhile, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi called it an election gimmick. He said, “After five years, suddenly Modi ji and BJP government remembered about 10% reservation. The implication of 10 per cent reservation is election gimmick”.
