New Delhi, Jan 09 (ANI): Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani today said that over 75 percent of the loans were given to women under the MUDRA scheme. “Entrepreneurs were given capital through banks (under MUDRA). One did not imagine the amount (sic) of women who would step forward… close to 140 million loans processed, out of which 75 percent have gone to female entrepreneurs,” Irani said at the Raisina Dialogue 2019 in the national capital. Irani was participating in an interactive session at the annual multilateral conference. The Textiles Minister also said that her industry has more than 70 percent women workers. She, however, is trying to get women into organised sector from unorganised one, as the informal sector does not ensure “equal pay” and “maternity leave”.
