Nepal PM leads Democracy Day celebrations; claims success in conflict management

Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 19 (ANI): Nepal’s Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli led the country in celebrating its 69th Democracy Day in Tundikhel. During the address, he claimed success over the management of the conflict which lasted for over a decade in the Himalayan Nation. Every year, Falgun 7 is observed as the National Democracy Day to commemorate the attainment of democracy through people’s struggle after the end of autocratic Rana regime. During the decade-long insurgency about 13, 000 people have lost their lives and about 1,300 people are still missing along with the complaints and reports of mass violation of human rights. The Government of Nepal formed a commission to probe the reports and very less progress has been made, drawing attention of the international community.
