Train operations to resume on Lower Parel Railway Station after 11 hours shutdown

Mumbai, Jan 03 (ANI): Ravinder Bhakar, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Western Railway updated on the demolition work of the Delisle Road Rail over Bridge (ROB) at Mumbai’s Lower Parel Railway Station. Bhakar said, “The Delisle Road Rail over Bridge had exceeded its life so we are replacing it. We had asked for an 11 hour block. But we have completed our work ahead of the designated time. It was major work and required 5 cranes in all to move the work smoothly. The station remained shut for 11 hours starting from Saturday 10:00 pm till 9:00 am on Sunday. Nearly, 205 local trains and 23 long-distance trains had been cancelled due to same. The Western Railway (WR) has decided to carry out an 11 hour rail block-one of the longest in recent years from Saturday night. Since August 20, 2018, the WR has gradually been dismantling the bridge. It was shut for vehicular traffic in July 2018. Notably, the Central, as well as the Western Railway, conduct Mumbai Mega Block on most of the weekends for the maintenance and other related works of rail tracks.
