50 MW Solar Power Station Lights Up Uttar Pradesh, Expected to Generate 2,477 Million Units

Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh: SJVN Limited, a leading public sector enterprise in India, has taken a significant step towards clean energy by successfully launching its 50 MW Gujrai Solar Power Station in Kanpur Dehat. This milestone marks another achievement for the company, solidifying its commitment to renewable energy and contributing to India’s ambitious sustainability goals.

The Gujrai Solar Power Station adds to SJVN’s already impressive portfolio, bringing their total installed power capacity to 2,277 MW across ten operational power stations. Executed through the company’s renewable arm, SJVN Green Energy Limited, the project cost Rs. 281 crores and is expected to generate annual revenue of approximately Rs. 32 crores.

“SJVN is dedicated to increasing India’s non-fossil-fuel-based energy generation and contributing to the target of Net Zero by 2070,” stated Smt. Geeta Kapur, Chairperson & Managing Director of SJVN. This new solar project is a testament to that commitment, generating enough clean energy to power thousands of homes and reducing carbon emissions significantly.

Secured through a competitive bidding process, the Gujrai Solar Power Station will provide clean electricity to the state of Uttar Pradesh for the next 25 years. This project aligns with SJVN’s ambitious vision of achieving an installed capacity of 25 GW by 2030 and 50 GW by 2040, showcasing their dedication to a sustainable future for India.
