Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed grief over the loss of life in Bihar’s Lakhisarai road accident. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “The road accident in Lakhisarai, Bihar is extremely tragic. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this accident. I also pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured. The local administration is working under the supervision of the state government to provide all possible assistance to the victims.”
The accident took place on February 20, 2024, when a bus collided with a truck in Lakhisarai district of Bihar. At least 10 people were killed and several others were injured in the accident.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has announced that the government will provide ex-gratia assistance of Rs. 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.
The Bihar government has also announced a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs. 25,000 to the injured.
The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, has expressed deep sorrow over the accident and has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the victims of the accident.
