Ara (Bihar): The NDA government in Bihar has prosecuted 45,000 criminals in its four-and-half year term to restore public faith in the law and order system, chief minister Nitish Kumar said today.
This was acheived by setting up additional trial courts for speedy prosecution of the criminals in a time-bound manner to restore the law and order situation and set up a platform for all round development in the state, Kumar told a meeting a Hingha Aurahi village in Araria district here.
Criticising Lalu Prasad’s RJD for allegedly bringing disrepute to Bihar as a haven of criminals during its 16 year-long rule, Kumar said, “The common people were gripped with fear of criminals and anti-social elements. The NDA government ensured that the law breakers fear the law and law enforcement agencies in the state.”
As a result of the speedy trial of criminal cases put in place by his government, the crime rate in Bihar has significantly abated over the years, Kumar,said.
The chief minister visited the ancestral house of the renowned Hindi novelist Phanishwas Nath ‘Renu’ and met his kin. In a token tribute to the late writer, whose novel ‘Maila Anchal’ was dramatised in the Raj Kapoor-starrer film ‘Teesri Kasam’, announced to upgrade a middle school in the village as the high school.
Kumar also reviewed implementation of various development works and welfare measures for the weaker sections in the Araria district with the government officials.
