Minister promises rapid industrialization of Bihar

PATNA: Industries minister Renu Kumari Kushwaha on Saturday assured the industrialists of full cooperation from the state government for rapid industrialization of the state.

Addressing a function at the Bihar Chamber of Commerce (BCC), which was organized to felicitate the first ever woman industries minister of the state, she said the industrialists have high expectations from the NDA-2 government.

“Not only the industrialists, even a common man has high expectation from the Nitish Kumar government in view of the performance of NDA-1 government,” the minister said, hoping that the state government would meet the expectations of the people.

Kushwaha said that she has taken over the charge of the department only recently and was studying all the files. “Rapid industrialization of the state is the dream of CM Nitish Kumar so that people from other states visit Bihar for jobs,” she said. Responding to the suggestions of BCC office-bearers, the minister said that the department would consider them.

Speaking on the occasion, director, industries, Vimla Nand Jha said that the state witnessed many reforms during NDA-1. He hoped that all the reforms would continue in the second phase.

Earlier, welcoming the industries minister, BCC president P K Agarwal read out a memorandum, which was submitted to the minister, seeking rapid industrialization of the state. Agrawal said that the demands include emphasis on food processing units for all-round development of agriculture, implementation of all the proposals of the state budget, uninterrupted power supply, development of the tea sector, setting up of land banks, steps for revival of sick units, withdrawal of cases against industrialists and holding of investment mart in the state.
