Mechanization fair to benefit farmers

PATNA: Bihar is all set to emerge as one of the biggest market for agriculture equipment as the state government harps on complete mechanization of the agriculture sector.

With this end in view, week-long state-level agriculture mechanization fair is being organized on the premises of Veterinary College from March 4 to 10 by the Bihar unit of Confederation of Indian Industry.

Several producers and suppliers of agriculture equipment across the country will be participating in the fair. Apart from this, the producers will also introduce this equipment to farmers, who will be given the opportunity to handle these so that they can get a first-hand feel of the utility of mechanization.

Four ‘kisan pathshalas (kisan schools) will be also organized on the fair campus to brief the farmers about the utility of different equipment.

To make the fair a success, the state agriculture department organized a workshop in which 40 manufacturers of agriculture equipment from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, MP and Bihar participated.

The workshop was inaugurated by agriculture production commissioner Ashok Kumar Sinha, who also appealed to the manufacturers to participate in the week-long fair to make it a grand success available to farmers, so that they take a leap towards mechanization, said the official.

The farmers will also be given grants on the fair premises to purchase quality equipment and the manufacturers, both from Bihar and other states, will be also given an opportunity to open a unit here.
