Bihar officer gets invitation from US Govt

PATNA: A Bihar IAS officer has been invited by the US Department of State to participate in International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on “Urban planning and economic development”, to be held in the US from February 7 to 25.

IVLP, established in 1940, is one of the US government’s prestigious professional exchange programmes for foreign opinion leaders. Pratyay Amrit, currently posted as state road construction department secretary, is among two Indians who have got the invite, others being from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the region.

This event is meant for policy makers, architects, urban planners, public transportation specialists, academics, journalists and NGO leaders. It provides a platform to discuss urban planning as a critical mechanism for economic development, growth and sustainability.

Topics such as urban design and planning, architecture and building codes, smart growth, environmental concerns and challenges, public transportation and economic sustainability would be on the agenda of the three-week deliberations.
