Bihar will digitize all its Public Distribution Stores

Bihar Government has finally decided to computerize its Public Distribution System Stores in wake of the corrupt practices in it. Majority of dealers who intend to sell a major chunk of public items in the black market.
A pilot project would be launched at Patna and Nalanda (why Nalanda everytime??) and on the successful completion it would be expanded to all other districts of the state.

On a similar lines the godowns of Food Corporation of India and State Food Corporation would also be computerized.

Benefits
Government can track online the supply and purchase of items via PDS
Beneficiaries can get the latest information about the Food Supply in their Areas.
Any instance of black marketing can be easily discovered

The Government also plans to digitize the BPL cards and ration cards. A similar pilot project will be started soon in Patna and Nalanda districts and expected to be completed in six months. Each beneficiary in the state will be provided biometric cards which will be linked with Aadhar. The job of digitization and biometric will be given to the National Informatics Centre (NIC). Beltron has been directed to supply computer to 534 blocks and data entry operators would be soon appointed for this.
