CBI reaches a definite conclusion on Bhanwari Devi Case

Federal Bureau of Investigation  has confirmed  that the bones collected from a canal in a rural area in Rajasthan  by the CBI were of abducted and murdered government nurse Bhanwari Devi.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted the FBI report in the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate.

“The report has been submitted. As the report proves that remains collected by the CBI belonged to the nurse, it has become a crucial evidence in the case,” CBI lawyer S.S. Yadav said

The agency had collected remains of Bhanwari Devi from a canal in Jodhpur rural area suspecting that the nurse’s body was burnt and her charred remains were dumped there. The agency had submitted them to the FBI for examination of the bones with touch DNA technology which is not available in India.

Bhanwari Devi, who was murdered at the alleged behest of ex-Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna and Congress legislator Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, had been kidnapped Sep 1 by three men – Shahabuddin, Baldev Jat alias Balia and Sohan Lal. Bhanwari was allegedly blackmailing Maderna and Malkhan on the basis of sex CDs showing the politicians in a compromising position with her.

As per the CBI charge sheet filed in a court, the trio murdered the nurse and then handed over her body to Bishna Ram Bishnoi and Kailash Jakhar Jakhar who burnt her to ashes and dumped her remains in a canal in Jodhpur.
