North India devoid of Power again, Delhi Metro Shuts down

North India has again plunged in Second power Crisis within 24 hours. Delhi Metro services have been fully halted. Large parts of north India including 8 states went powerless again as the Northern Grid and sections of the Eastern Grid broke down.

Top officials said the grid failed at around 1:30pm following which power supply snapped in all areas of the national capital.

At around 1:30pm, Delhi had a demand of around 4,000mw out of which only 38 mega watt was being supplied at around 1:45pm.

Train services on the 190-km Metro network connecting length and breath of New Delhi were affected due to The Northern Grid failure also caused power cuts in large parts of Delhi.

“Power supply has been adversely affected in entire Punjab due to failure of northern grid at around 2:30 AM… We are trying to restore the power,” Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, Director (Distribution) Arun Verma told He said it might take at least 4-5 hours to restore the power supply in entire Punjab.

Thousands of commuters in the Delhi Metro will face a harrowing time today services of all the lines of the Metro have been disrupted due to tripping of power supply.
