Gopal Kanda’s former associate deposes against him in Geetika Sharma Case

Gopal Goyal Kanda,Accused-turned-approver Chanshivroop Singh, a close associate of Gopal Goyal Kanda has Wednesday recorded his statement in a Delhi court in Geetika Sharma’s suicide case.

“Singh’s statement was recorded under section 164 CrPC (recording of confessions and statements) in a court here,” a police official said.

Singh had gone to Dubai and told Emirates Airlines that Geetika had got the job by using forged documents. She had joined Emirates after quitting Kanda’s airlines.

According to the chargesheet, Kanda gave a forged experience certificate to Geetika to create hurdles in her career moves.

Singh was appointed as assistant manager in Kanda’s MDLR Group in 2010.

The approver’s statement was recorded following Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) D.K. Jangala’s order directing him to appear before a magistrate for recording evidence.

“Let the statement of accused be recorded to ascertain whether he is making full and true disclosure of whole of circumstances,” Judge Jangala said Tuesday.

Singh was told to appear before the link metropolitan magistrate, Rohini district courts, to get his statement recorded.

The ACMM’s direction came on an application filed by Singh last week to become an approver in the case. The prosecution had not opposed Singh’s plea.

Geetika, 23, a former flight attendant of Kanda’s now-defunct MDLR Airlines, had in her suicide notes accused Kanda and his employee Aruna Chaddha of harassing and forcing her to kill herself. She died on the night of Aug 4-5 at her house in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area. Kanda and Chaddha have denied the allegations.
