Indian Armed Forces relinquish New Year Party in wake of Damini’s Death

New Delhi: In an act of solidarity with the Delhi Sexual Assault victim,  Damini, the armed forces and the defense ministry have decided to refrain from New Year parties.

Defence Minister A.K. Antony will have a quiet new year, officials of the defence ministry said here.

There is no formal advisory per se but everyone has decided not to hold celebrations or parties, said informed sources.

The army chief, Gen Bikram Singh, and his wife Bubbles Singh will visit patients at the Army Research and Referral Hospital and Base Hospital Tuesday and distribute sweets.
