President’s Rule imposed in Jharkhand for the third time in History

Jharkhand has emerged as the worst state of India in terms of Political Stability ever since it was carved out from Bihar. In a brief span of 12 Years, the President’s Rule had to be imposed not less than three times when no political alternative was feasible.

With Union Cabinet approving the Proposal of President’s Rule forwared by Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed, the President’s Rule has been virtually imposed in Jharkhand.

After the Resignation of Arjun Munda as chief minister, no party staked any claim to form the government.

Local Party, JMM withdrew support to the Munda-led Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government on January 7, following which Munda had sought the assembly’s dissolution.

Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) delegations had, however, separately met the governor and requested not to accept Munda’s recommendation.

A Congress leader in New Delhi said that the governor was bound to recommend president’s rule after the fall of the government.

“A governor is duty-bound to recommend president’s rule if the government falls. The recommendation to keep it under suspension is aimed at exploring the possibility of formation of government,” the leader, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told IANS.

He said the party had not taken a final decision on forming an alternative government in the state in partnership with JMM and other parties.
