Destination Bihar Expo 2013 begins at Patna

Patna: Week Long Destination Bihar Expo 2013 commenced here at Patna on March 12. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Industrial Expo organized by Bihar Industries Association, with this year’s theme being Showcasing Bihar.

The Expo has been set up at the Patliputra Colony Ground and has over 100 Stalls from different verticals of the Industry.

While inaugurating, Nitish emphasized on bringing Private Investment into the state and re-iterated his demand for special status for Bihar. ” The need of the hour is more private investment from investors outside Bihar and more employment generating schemes”, said Kumar.

Currently the government is spending from its own coffer to bring any change in the state. With special status, the state government would have to spend only 10% from its exchequer thus saving anywhere from Rs. 4,000 crore to Rs. 7,000 crore that, in turn, could be invested in other developmental schemes, he added.

One of the major aims of the Expo is to promote Entrepreneurship in Bihar. There are several stalls which train people to start small medium and cottage industries.

Major companies which have put their stalls are,  Asian Ply Industries Private Limited of Hajipur, Anuj Dairy, Shivshakti Agro, which makes cattlefeed, and Patna-based S S Foam Industries Private Limited.

On the first day there was little crowd after inauguration but the organizers are confident that the Crowd would multiply as people come to know about it.

The Expo is also a Sale Point for various items like Handicrafts, Gift Items, Electronic Goods, Toys etc. One stall also demonstrates how to  generate Electricity using Biogas.
