Central Govt employees will get 8% more Dearness Allowance

New Delhi: The Cabinet has today approved eight percent increase in Dearness Allowance for the employees and pensioners of the central government. Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister, Manish Tewari said that the hike would be effective from first of January this year.

The Union cabinet today gave its approval to release an additional instalment of DA to central government employees and Dearness relief to pensioner with effect from 1st January 2013 at the rate of 8 percent over the existing relief of 72 percent. The Cabinet also approved 12 thousand crore rupees special package for Bihar under the Backward Region Grant Fund. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave its approval to continue the special plan for Bihar in the remaining 4 years 2013-14 to 2016-17 of the 12 five year plan, with total allocation of 12 thousand crore rupees to the entire five year plan period.
