IAS Officer from Bihar conquers Mount Everest in First Attempt

Ravindra Kumar, an IAS Officer has become the first Civilian from Bihar to reach the summit of World’s highest Peak, Mount Everest.

Ravindra Kumar is a native of Begusarai Bihar and is currently posted as Additional Collector at Gangtok, Sikkim. He is an IAS Officer of 2010 Batch of Manipur Cadre.

In the words of Ravindra, he had to prepare hard for one year. A daily jogging of 19 kilometers, along with severe physical training helped him to attain physical endurance to conquer Mount Everest.

He was part of 11 membered Mountaineering team, which set to conquer Mount Everest. Only 8 members of the team could reach the peak of Mount Everest.

As per local reports, he started his journey from Bihar on April 6. He reached Kathmandu on the same day, but left for Mount Everest on April 9. The 8 members of the team reached the peak on May 9.

“The temperature at the peak was below -25 deg. celcius”, says Ravindra whose next target is reaching South Pole.

Mount Everest is the highest peak of the world with the maximum peak height of 8848m about the MSL and is located along International Border of Nepal and Tibet.
