SmartNaMo: Ten things to know about this Latest Android Phone

SmartNamo is the latest Android based Smartphone coming in the market towards 2013 end. The phone  is being manufactured by a China based Company known as Namo. The Company is owned by few Gujarati Businessmen. Here are Ten less known things about SmartNamo.

SmartNamo will have a 5.0-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 shield, 1.5GHz MediaTek quad-core processor chipsets and 13.0-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 5.0-megapixel snapper on the front.

Namo actually stands for  Next Generation Android Mobile Odyssey. The company has planned to utilize the huge popularity of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi to brand its product. Narendra Modi is often called as NaMo in the Media.

Smart Namo will run Google’s Android v4.2.1 Jelly Bean Operating System.

Smartnamo will come in four different variants on the basis of RAM and Storage Space. Starting from 1GB RAM + 16GB Storage to 4GB RAM+64 GB Storage.

Initially the company wants to launch Signature Edition of Handsets with the Signature of  Narendra Modi.  The phone will also have videos and software applications related to Mr. Modi.

While the High-end versions start from Rs 14000 and may go upto Rs 20000 initially, the company also plans cheaper handsets which would cost about Rs 1000, in a bid to attract the masses.

The Company also plans to start a Manufacturing unit in Gujarat, provided the sale of phones reaches a considerable scale. The present manufacturing units are based in China.

The concept of such phones is not new. There are a lot of products, including MP3 music players and smartphones, named after Chinese leaders, and we wanted to bring this concept to the Indian market,” says Ammeet Desai, the spokesman for SmartNamo.

SmartNamo is not associated with Mr. Narendra Modi. According to the Company website, SmartNamo is an independent body of fans of Shri Narendra Modi.

SmartNamo would be available in Market by September-October. According to Company spokesperson Ammeet Desai, they would soon approach Narendra Modi with the initial version of the phone for his approval. The profit from the sale of Signature Edition version would be donated to the Charity.
