From 2002 on, Vanzara had had many “encounters” to his credit.  In June 2004, the famous Ishrat Jahan Encounter Case took place on the outskirts of Ahmedabad under the supervision of Vanzara.  He was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad at that time.

In November 2005  Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and other policemen killed Sohrabuddin Anwar hussain Sheikh.

Sheikh was known for extorting protection money from local marble factories in Gujarat and Rajasthan.  He also had links to fellow underworld criminals Sharif khan Pathan, Abdul Latif, Rasool Parti and Brajesh Singh, who were all members and associates of India’s largest organized crime network and underworld mafia operated by Dawood Ibrahim.

In December 2006, Tulsi Prajapati, said to be an accomplice of Sohrabuddin and a police informer, was killed in an encounter in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. Prajapati was said to be a witness in the Sohrabuddin case.  Vanzara has been indicted in Tulsiram Prajapati Case also.

Vanzara was arrested in April 2007 by the Gujarat Crime Investigation Department (CID) for being involved in Fake Encounter Cases.

In 2008 there were reports that Vanzara and another cop arrested in the Sohrabuddin case, NK Amin, had attacked each other with cricket bats at the Sabarmati jail. Jail inmates were quoted as saying that Amin accused Vanazara of being responsible for them being in jail. Amin has recently said he would like to turn approver in the case.

In September 2013, Vanzare resigned from IPS citing negligence of Gujarat Government in protecting him and his Police Officers, 32 of whom are jailed in various encounter cases. He exclusively blamed Amit Shah for all his troubles.

In his resignation letter, he also highlighted the his role in preventing the conversion of  Gujarat into another Kashmir by Pakistan based terrorist outfits like Let, JeM and D gang under the direct supervision of ISI,  by exploiting the sentiments of the muslims all over the world.
