Kashmir Valley greets Season’s first Snowfall today

Srinagar: Kashmir Valley today received Season’s first snowfall amid heavy downpour since yesterday.

Tourist spots of Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Kupwara, Kargil and  Sonamarg received light to moderate snowfall since last night, as per local news reports.

Gulmarg, witnessed coldest night of the winter so far after the minimum temperature dropped to minus 7 degrees, two notches below normal.  Pahalgam,  a famous tourist spot, also saw a major dip in Temperature yesterday after snowfall.

The impact of snowfall was also felt on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, also called Gateway of Kashmir. Other tourist spots like Kupwara and Kokernag  also witnessed temperature close to Zero Degree Celsius.

“The night temperature was minus 3.9 degrees celsius in Srinagar today (Saturday). It was minus 7.0 in Gulmarg, minus 5.6 in Pahalgam, minus 12.4 in Leh and minus 11.2 degrees Celsius in Kargil town of the Ladakh region.

“The minimum temperature in Jammu city today (Saturday) was 4.8 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal,” said Sonam Lotus, director of the weather office here.
