Decent Snowfall predicted at Shimla on Valentine’s Day

Shimla:  There is good news for Valentine’s Day revellers. The Met office here today forecast that Shimla and nearby destinations are likely to witness mild to moderate spells of snow on February 14, Friday.

The department also issued an advisory not to venture into the high hills of Shimla and Kinnaur districts as there are chances of heavy snowfall at some places over the next 12 hours.

Honeymooners’ paradise like Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda might experience fresh snowfall, a Met official told IANS.

He said places near tourist resort Manali like Solang, Gulaba and Marhi are already cocooned in a thick blanket of snow.

According to the meteorological office, the lower areas of the state including Dharamsala, Solan, Nahan and Mandi might receive moderate to heavy rain.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest town in the state with the minimum temperature at minus 15.4 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperatures in Shimla and Manali were 3.4 degrees and minus 3.2 degrees respectively.

Kalpa, some 250 km from Shimla, saw night temperature at minus 5 degrees Celsius while it was 5.6 degrees in Dharamsala.
