New Delhi:Â Â Anchor-actor Manish Paul, who has tickled the funny bone of many with his on-stage acts, says the jokes are scripted but most of the things he does are on the spur of the moment.
“A lot of the things that I do on stage is impromptu. There is definitely a script that we need to follow, but I do add to it on the spot. People who know can easily identify what is scripted and what is created by me,” Manish told IANS in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
“I believe every host should have the ability of creating things on the spot, if we just go by a script it will become very boring, and hosting is completely different from acting. While hosting a show, the anchors need to do certain things on their own,” he added.
The 32-year-old is all geared up for his new TV show “Mad In India”, which will air on Star Plus, with comedian Sunil Grover, who became famous as Gutthi from “Comedy Nights With Kapil”.
He says the show, which will go on air Feb 16, doesn’t have any particular format and it will have all the elements that audiences like.
“The show is my first TV outing of 2014. It has no particular format, no script. We are all trying to have fun and it will have everything that the audience likes as it is very important to keep them entertained. We might also have celebrities on board, but I can talk about that only once the show starts,” he said.
Manish, who has co-hosted with TV stars like Kapil Sharma, Ragini Khanna and Cyrus Sahukar, says he prefers hosting a show alone as it gives him an option to do whatever he can.
“It gives me open possibilities to do different things and try new things. Nevertheless, I enjoyed hosting ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6’ with Kapil Sharma,” he said.
Starting his career in 2002 with “Sunday Tango” on Star Plus, the actor has also been part of TV shows like “Chhoona Hai Aasmaan” and “Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi”.
He made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with “Mickey Virus”, but says it was not easy to break into the Bollywood industry.
“It’s not easy for someone to come and be a part of Bollywood, especially for me, because I didn’t know anyone here. Even my far-off relatives are nowhere related to the industry. So, I really had to work hard to get where I am today,” he said.
Manish is currently shooting for “Tere Bin Laden 2”.
