The North Eastern States of India have been given special bonanza in Railway Budget 2014-2015 presented in Parliament today by D V Sadananda Gowda. The cluster of 7 states viz. Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim have a very low penetration of Railways.
Twenty three new railway projects underway in the northeast. Rs.5,116 crore have been allocated for this in 2014-15 budget, a jump of 54 percent from the previous fiscal.
