25% of Bihar’s Population has UID Aadhaar Card

New Delhi:Bihar has emerged as the second in the country in terms of percentage of its population enrolled in UIDAI Aadhaar Scheme. According to the latest data released by Planning Commission, UIDAI has crossed a significant milestone of generating 7 crore Aadhaars in Uttar Pradesh (35% of population) and 2.5 crore Aadhaars in Bihar (25%) as on 4 January 2015.

The 2 other States of Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand, which were allocated to UIDAI along with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar earlier last year, have together generated 1.55 crore Aadhaars bringing the total number in the 4 new States to more than 11 crore out of a total population of about 33.9 crore in these States.

Currently, about 20 thousand enrolment stations are working across the country with more than 8 lakh enrolments per day. The 4 new States account for more than 5 lakh enrolments out of this. The total number of Aadhaars generated in the country stand at 73.4 crore presently
