Patna: Ending the month long speculations over dismissal of Jitan Ram Manjhi from the post of Chief Minister, Senior JD-U Leader Nitish Kumar today reasserted that Manjhi would continue as the CM.
Earlier, the party was split into supporters and critics of Mr. Manjhi. His critics were unhappy over him undoing several administrative changes made by his predecessor Nitish Kumar. Despite all this, Mr. Manjhi continually stated that he was merely carrying forward the legacy of Nitish Kumar and went on to call him the Chanakya of Bihar’s Politics.
The decision to continue Manjhi is widely seen in the backdrop of the fear of losing mahadalit votes, if he was ousted from the power.
It would be interesting to see if the rift comes of power comes to an end with the statement of Mr. Kumar.
