Solving five Rubik’s cubes in 1:23:934 minutes, Bhargav Narasimhan of Chennai broke the existing record of 1:52 minutes held by Tumu Tabuchi of Japan.

Since its creation in the 1980s the Rubik’s Cube has intrigued children and adults alike. The fascination with the colorful angular plastic cube is such that a global community of speedcubers exists.

Narasimhan says he dedicated himself to working on the cubes five years ago, when he was 17.

“The previous record was set by Yumu Tabuchi which was 1:52 minutes. My record is 1:23:934 minutes. I feel very happy that I have done it for the nation,” said Narasimhan.

The new champion currently holds more than 40 national and two Asian records for solving Rubik’s Cube single-handedly.

Having participated in the World Cube Association competition, Narasimhan is now eyeing more world records.
