Kirobo becomes 1st Robot to have a conversation in space, sets 2 Guinness World Records

Humans aren’t the only ones who can set Guinness World Records. “Kirobo”, a companion robot that recently returned to Japan from the International Space Station (ISS), was awarded not one, but two Guinness World Records, for being the first robot to have a conversation in space and reaching the highest height as a robot from Earth.

Asked what the view of Earth was like, Kirobo said it looked like “a blue LED light.”

Kirobo was sent off to the ISS on a H-2B rocket in August of 2013, arriving in December.

The space mission wasn’t all about setting records, while he was there, the robot conducted experiments with his human colleague Koichi Wakata.
