Conferring Bharat Ratna is not Asaduddin Owaisi’s Job: Political Leaders

New Delhi: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday again questioned the Bharat Ratna for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said that the system to decide on such issues should be transparent. He said that the criteria for giving such high civilian awards should be changed and a public discussion should there which will be good for the country.

“The question that arises is that there should be criteria for such big awards which should have transparency and a public discussion”, he said.

Owaisi had raised question on honouring Vajpayee with Bharat Ratna alleging that the BJP’s most acceptable face had a role in Babri Masjid demolition.

Commenting on his remarks, various political leaders slammed Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief, Asaduddin Owaisi for questioning central government’s decision to confer the Bharat Ratna upon former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, alleging that the BJP’s most acceptable face had a role in Babri Masjid demolition.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that such ill thoughts cannot be changed and should be paid attention to.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said that this is not Owaisi’s job and that there is a committee which decides about the awards.

NCP leader Majid Memon also disagreed with the remark. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said that such leaders should look what they are speaking in their speeches.

JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that statements by Owaisi on national awards are not acceptable.
