Jamshedpur’s Tata Steel Zoological Park arranges Coolers for Animals

Jamshedpur: As temperatures soar in India, zoo authorities are doing their best to keep the environment cooler for animals in the Tata Steel Zoological Park in Jamshedpur city of Jharkhand.

The animals are given showers twice a day as the mercury level has crossed 42 degree Celsius. Air coolers and fans have been installed in cages so that animals like lions and tigers don’t lose their cool.

A doctor at the zoo, Manik Palit said they undertook the measures last month when temperatures in the state started soaring. Pits have also been created and filled with water where some animals rest when they are unable to bear the heat.

Temperatures have risen sharply in several northern and western regions recently with weathermen predicting scorching summers ahead.
