Manipur tense after three villagers killed

Senapati, May 24 (ANI): A district in Manipur state was tense after three villagers were killed in a cross-fire between security forces and a banned militant group. A combined force of para-troopers and Assam Rifles (a paramilitary force) reportedly raided B Gamon village of Senapati district, following a tip-off that some rebels of banned Kuki National Front (N) were camping there. Villagers alleged that three civilians, one church leader and two construction labourers of the local Metei community, were killed during the shoot-out. A police team rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the incident. Women volunteers along with other villagers blocked the road in an attempt to prevent the security forces who allegedly tried to take away the bodies of those killed. Locals demanded that the state and central governments look into the incident and take strict action against the culprits.
