Women leaders express solidarity on Aruna’s demise, laud her caretakers

New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): Women leaders on Monday expressed their solidarity on Nurse Aruna Shanbaug who died today after remaining in a state of coma for 42 years. She was a nurse at King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital and went into coma after being raped by a sweeper at the hospital. Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Women Rights Activist Annie Raja, Social Activist Kavita Srivastava and former NCW member Nirmala Sawant expressed solidarity on Aruna’s demise on one hand and lauded the staff of KEM hospital for taking good care of Shanbaug till her last day.
