Can’t invite Vice President when PM is chief guest: Shripad Naik on on Hamid Ansari’s absence at Yog

Jammu/New Delhi, June 22 (ANI): AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik on Monday defended the decision not to invite Vice President Hamid Ansari at the International Yoga Day event at Rajpath in the national capital on Sunday. Naik said that as per protocol when the Prime Minister is the Chief Guest at an event, the President and Vice President are not invited as guests. The controversy started after BJP leader Ram Madhav questioned Ansari’s absence at Rajpath. Through series of tweets Madhav questioned why did RS TV that runs on tax payers money completely black out Yoga Day event? And while President participated, the Vice President gave a miss to the event.Madhav’s allegation against RS TV was immediately countered by others, who tweeted screen shots of the channel’s coverage of the yoga events. As soon as Ansari’s office said that he was not invited to the event, Madhav deleted his tweet questioning the Vice President’s absence.
