Sambalpur, June 28 (ANI): A couple in Odisha was on Sunday arrested for allegedly selling off their two daughters for 20,000 rupees. Manbhula Naik and his wife Prabhasini were arrested, along with two middlemen on a complaint lodged by their two elder children. Pushpa Saha and her brother Sanatan Naik told the police that their younger siblings were sold off to a woman in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh state on June 01. Saha said that her brother was beaten up when he objected to his alcoholic father’s action. Naik, however, has refuted the charges leveled against him saying that he had married off the girls. He was clueless when asked the names of his sons-in-law. Odisha state police said that a team has been sent to Madhya Pradesh to further probe the matter.
