International Yoga Day finds its way into Tihar Jail of New Delhi

New Delhi/Ahmedabad, June 18 (ANI): Inmates of Tihar Jail have been practicing yoga ahead of International Yoga Day.

Tihar Jail authorities have organised a one-month training programme for the inmates which will conclude on June 21. round 10,000 inmates have been practicing yoga on a regular basis. The inmates admitted that yoga has helped calm them.

Even the authorities felt that yoga could change their lives for better. Around 7,000 inmates will take part during the celebrations of International Yoga Day at Tihar Jail premises. In Ahmedabad city of Gujarat, Muslims along with others have been practicing yoga.

About 70 Muslims regularly attend the yoga class which is run by a local woman. The United Nations (UN) declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga after adopting a measure proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Indian government has drawn up extensive plans to promote yoga on June 21. Over 1,00,000 camps will be set up across the country on that day for people to do yoga wherein millions are expected to take part.
