Maoist affected village in Jharkhand to get first water hand pump after 68 years of Independence

Latehar, June 21 (ANI): After 68 years of independence, a village in Latehar district of Jharkhand will get its first water hand pump. The Maoist-hit Jaigir village has a hilly terrain and is situated about 30-kilometer away from Latehar district. Villagers used to walk long distances to collect drinking water for their daily needs. Work has been going on and villagers said they expected to access clean water very soon. The forest department had constructed nine wells in the village but only two of them have water and the rest have dried. Villager claimed that no government official had visited them since they were settled there. The village head had pushed for installation of hand pump.
