Monsoon finally hits Kerala

Kochi, June 05 (ANI): The South West Monsoon arrived in Kerala on Friday, leading to a collective sigh of relief across the nation. The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) had earlier stated that the prediction of below average monsoon is for the cumulative rainfall for the season, and added that agriculture will not suffer much if the distribution of rainfall across the country is uniform and timely. IMD had also updated its monsoon forecast on Tuesday, suggesting a dip in the monsoon with a fall to 88 percent from the 93 percent predicted earlier. The monsoon was expected to make landfall in Kerala by May 30, but the date was later revised to June 5. If the weather conditions adhere to the predictions, then India will witness a sub-par monsoon for the second successive year.
