Ghangaria/ Dehradun/ Rudraprayag, June 30 (ANI): Authorities airlifted pilgrims, who were stranded due to incessant rain, from various parts of Uttarakhand. Helicopters were pressed into action to airlift pilgrims from areas cut off due to damaged roads and bridges. So far, State Disaster Rescue Force (SDRF) and police officials have evacuated around 1,000 pilgrims. Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat said the government has deployed more SDRF personnel to help pilgrims travelling to Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines. The government was forced to regulate pilgrimage to these Hindu shrines. Meanwhile, rescued pilgrims narrated their experience. Landslides were reported from across the state, badly restricting movement of pilgrims and vehicles. Four bridges collapsed in Sonprayag town in the state earlier due to heavy rains.
