Wreath laying ceremony of Manipur attack martyrs held in Imphal

Imphal, June 06 (ANI): Two days after eighteen Indian Army soldiers were killed in an audacious ambush in Manipur’s Chandel district, a wreath-laying ceremony was held in Imphal on Saturday to pay tributes to the martyred. Manipur’s Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh who was also present during the ceremony also paid his tributes to the martyrs. A senior official of Indian Army, Major General Bipin Rawat, said the security forces had averted many potential attacks due to intelligence inputs as it was one of the aberrations. Tribal guerrillas, firing rocket-propelled grenades and detonating improvised explosive devices, killed 20 soldiers on Thursday (June 04) in the Chandel district. Another 11 soldiers were wounded in the most deadly attack in the region in recent years, which targeted a troop convoy heading for Imphal, the capital of the state bordering Myanmar.
