Amarnath Yatra: Second batch of pilgrims leaves from Jammu

Jammu, July 02 (ANI): The second batch of 1507 devotees left Jammu for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage in the wee hours of Thursday. Thousands of pilgrims undertake the Amarnath Yatra to the shrine cave to worship an ice stalagmite called Shivlinga, believed to be the symbol of Lord Shiva, the god of destruction and regeneration. Devotees were pleased with the arrangements made by the state government and lauded the authorities for extending every possible help to pilgrims. Teams of army and paramilitary forces have been deployed at various points along the pilgrimage route. Medical camps have also been set up. Ecstatic devotees chanted the name of Shiva as buses left the base camp.
