Bihar Government increases Doctors’s Retirement Age to 67

Patna: In a landmark decision, the Nitish Kumar Government increased the Retirement age of Government Doctors from 65 to 67. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the scarcity of medical professionals in the state. A notification in this regard is likely to be issued tomorrow. This decision is likely to impact around 5200 doctors working under state Health department. Apart from MBBS doctors, Ayush doctors would also be benefited under this.

In another major decision, the state Government decided to provide pay scale to all trained and untrained contractual teachers. Around 4 lakh teachers including librarians would be benefited due to this decision. All those teachers would be entitled to a payscale of Rs 5200-20200 starting from July 1, 2015. This would bring in an additional burden of over 3000 crores on exchequer annually.
