BJP demands ban on liquor in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, July 11 (ANI): BJP workers staged a protest in Tamil Nadu to demand a ban on liquor shops in the state. BJP state unit Chief Tamilisai Soundararajan appealed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to close all the shops running under Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC), an organisation which enjoys monopoly over wholesale and retail vending of alcoholic beverages in the state. Soundararajan added even though liquor brings income to the state, they want shops to be shut as she believes the younger generation is getting spoiled under the influence of alcohol.
