Pakistani army rescues Slovenian mountaineer from Karakoram mountain range

Karakoram Mountain Ranges/ Skardu, July 14 (ANI): Kajetan Rock Decman, a Slovenian climber who fell sick during a Karakoram expedition was rescued by an Army Aviation helicopter in Pakistan. According to the statement, the Pak army responded to a request to save Decman, who was part of a seven-member mountaineering expedition, after he suffered ‘high altitude sickness’ in an attempt to reach International Hiking and Altitude Expedition Camp (IHEC). Decman fell sick when they reached a height of 6000 metres (18000 ft). He was airlifted to Skardu for treatment where his condition is said to be stable. A total of five mountaineering teams have reached K-2 base camp so far this season. Since avalanches on the mountains have increased following the recent earthquake in China, most of the teams have decided to move their acclimatization process to neighbouring Broad Peak (8,051m).
