PM Modi receives ceremonial welcome in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, July 06 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday was accorded a ceremonial welcome, after he arrived in Tashkent for the first leg of his eight day tour to five central Asian countries and Russia. The Prime Minister was also accorded the Guard of Honor on his arrival here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier met his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev after landing in Tashkent. Modi had thanked Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome accorded to him upon his arrival. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will meet Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov and sign key agreements to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. The other countries on Modi’s itinerary are Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. With this trip Modi will become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit five central Asian nations in one go.
