Uzbekistan for India’s permanent candidature to UN Security Council: MEA

Tashkent, July 6 (ANI): External Affairs Ministry Secretary (West) Navtej Sarna on Monday said that Uzbekistan has confirmed its support for India’s permanent candidature to the UN Security Council and was planning to take its relations with India to an entirely different level. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier today said that India is looking forward to combating the menace of terrorism along with Uzbekistan, besides enhancing bilateral ties with the country. The Prime Minister further said that India was looking forward to expanding bilateral ties with Uzbekistan in matters related to economic cooperation, advancing stability and promoting regional integration. Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Tashkent today on the first leg of his eight-day tour to five central Asian countries and Russia, has also presented a specially commissioned reproduction of the Khamsa-i-Khusrau to Karimov.
