Srinagar/Anantnag, July 03 (ANI): Violent clash broke out between the police and supporters of Leader of the hardline faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Anantnag district of south Kashmir after the police detained the separatist leader hours before his scheduled public address. Following the house arrest Geelani, a violent clash broke out between Geelani’s supporters and the police. Several people were injured in the massive clashes and Pakistan’s flag was raised by the protestors. The supporters further pelted stones on police and paramilitary personnel deployed in the area who responded with tear smoke shells. According to reports, Geelani had earlier made an announcement to offer Friday prayers in Anantnag and was scheduled to address a public gathering there after the prayers.
